There is sad news. Kardashian sisters announced that they will not be continuing to updating their fans via apps in 2019. These sisters include Kim Kardashian West, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner. The company that provided their apps and websites was Whalerock Industries.
The Empire that the Kardashians Built
The Kardashians are famous for having built a social media empire, with hundreds of millions of followers. They launched subscription apps in 2015, earning money off of these apps. Additionally, they capitalized on their high numbers of followers whenever they announced the launch of new products.
Kardashian Sisters Are Ending Updates
The sisters of the Kim Kardashian clan decided to end updating on their apps in 2019. They did not say why they decided to end their apps; but industry analysts believe that it could be due to the app’s decreasing popularity.
It is unfortunate that the popularity decreased. Kim Kardashian West was able to benefit from subscription apps starting from September 2015. In fact, her app soared in the Apple App Store’s top charts. It charged $2.99 a month to peek inside Kim’s life. However, by 2018, the app started doing very badly. As it does not make the overall ranking, it is lower than number 1,500. The app is similar to the apps that her sisters, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner, created in 2015 as well.
New Tech Killed Kim Kardashian App
It looks like new tech killed the celebrity’s app. It looks like the Kardashians are focusing on other business lines. Indeed, the Kardashians need to focus on the crowd that they attract; that is women younger than 25. And, these young women tend to flock to Instagram, rather than an individual subscription app. This is because, on Instagram, the younger women can see a variety of other content. And the Kardashians are entering a new age. This is the age where young people want to use social media to stay up-to-date on the lifestyles of a variety of people.
